Program Content

Our MBA program reinforces business fundamentals through a strong foundation of accounting, marketing and strategy. As students move through the two years, they master skills in leadership, creating partnerships, interpreting industry data, managing crises and negotiation techniques. Students then progress to chosen electives like International Business and Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Finally, led by supportive and practiced mentors, students complete a thesis paper on a subject that they find compelling, relating specifically to the field they want to pursue.

In this course students will develop an understanding of the role of accounting information in external and internal decision-making. The nature and role of major financial statements will be considered and an examination of the accounting conventions underlying the preparation of such statements will be carried out.  Students will learn how to undertake ratio analysis of balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements. They will also become familiar with key principles of management accounting, including costing and basic investment appraisal techniques.

The objective of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the principles of organizational design, specialization, coordination, cooperation and the role of incentives and control. Students will also look at the importance of systematic strategic planning processes, typical of corporations with separate business units. Evaluation of the managerial importance of information systems, administrative layers and continuous feedback will also be investigated.

This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of how responsive marketing strategies can meet customer needs. The course focuses on basic marketing concepts, the role of marketing in the organization and in society. Topics such as market segmentation, marketing mix concepts and strategies will also be presented. Other topics covered in this course include the analysis of external environmental factors, marketing research, global marketing with relevance to cultural diversity, legal and ethical considerations and the impact of technology on marketing. The objective of this course is to establish or advance an understanding of research through critical exploration of research language, ethics, and approaches creating skills necessary to effectively complete research projects. Introduces the language of research, ethical principles and challenges, and the elements of the research process within quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches. Theoretical underpinnings will be used to begin to critically review literature relevant to aspects of human resource management and determine how research findings are useful in forming an understanding of their work, social, local and global environment.

The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the way capital markets operate, the methods companies use to raise funds and the techniques companies employ to evaluate investment opportunities and manage financial risks. The course adopts a practical approach and for this reason some of the topics are taught through case studies. Students will become familiar with mathematical, statistical and spreadsheet models which are used in financial decision-making.

The objective of this course is to present the interconnected nature of strategic issues and the ways in which strategic decisions influence the direction of an organization, determining its future. The course will also examine the strategic position of an organization by assessing the external environment, the internal capabilities, the culture of the organization and the way in which the organization’s strategic choices are formed and executed.

This course presents a broad overview of the field of human resource management and provides students with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies for effectively managing people in a company or organization to maximize their performance in line with the strategic objectives of the business. The course addresses both local (Bahrain) practices and legal labor requirements as well as international practices.

In this course students will develop an understanding of the nature and application of corporate governance in modern organizations. They will look at agency and stakeholder communication theories and examine the core differences between leading developing countries. They will also consider Corporate Social Responsibility, interactions between ethical issues and sustainability, and corporate governance.

The aim of this course is to motivate and improve students’ entrepreneurial skills and help them understand the importance of innovation for the success of a business. To achieve this objective, students will be given the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills which are essential for the development, organization and management of innovative ventures. Students will be able to recognize and evaluate potential opportunities to commercialize these innovations, to design and implement specific plans in order to exploit these opportunities and to obtain the financial resources necessary for the implementation of these plans.

This course introduces students to the current trends and concepts of international business. The course covers theories of globalization, international trade agreements and economic integrations as well as the impact of new technologies on trade and multinational corporations. Other topics include financing multinational operations, marketing and human resource management, and international governance issues. The overall aim of the course is to provide students with practical implementation of the main concepts covered by the course.
