Dr. Perla Christina Atiyah

Accomplished academic, Dr. Perla Christina Atiyah has taken on the role as Associate Professor of Biology at AUBH, with over 10 years of teaching experience. While outside of academia, she has international experience as a researcher, environmental consultant, and project manager with organizations such as the European Commission; World Bank; United Nations; and International Union for Conservation of Nature.
Prior to joining AUBH, Dr. Atiyah served as Assistant Professor at the Lebanese American University, where she was responsible for developing the environmental sustainability curricula for the School of Engineering. She was also an Assistant Professor at Zayed University (ZU) in Abu Dhabi. During her tenure at ZU, she took a leading role in designing a new, interdisciplinary B.Sc. Program in Environmental Science and Sustainability. She further served as Chair of the Department of Natural Science and Public Health.
Dr. Atiyah has received Fellowship Awards for Academic Excellence. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences and Geography from Northwestern University, a Master of Arts in Environment and Development from the University of London, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of California.
