Dr. Marwan Hameed
Assistant Professor – Mechanical Engineering

Active researcher and academic, Dr. Marwan Hameed serves as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at AUBH.

Prior to taking on the role at AUBH, Dr. Hameed worked as a visiting professor at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Daytona Beach, USA. He has also held the position of Head Graduate Teaching Assistant for 3 years while completing his Ph.D. He further supervised graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Central Florida, USA.

Dr. Hameed’s primary research interests are in bio-engineering, computational heat transfer, and fluid flow. His research, funded by the of American Heart Association Grant, utilizes multi-scale Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling to investigate a novel surgical procedure within the “hybrid” approach, aimed at further reducing the total surgical trauma to the single ventricle patient. His research has been used in a general program, bridging engineering and medicine by utilizing computational modeling to aid in the treatment planning of congenital heart disease. These studies include the investigation of the hemodynamics of a novel hybrid approach to the comprehensive Stage II operation for single ventricle congenital heart disease. Prior to his years in conducting research, he spent over 2 years as a Mechanical Engineer working on heat and cooling systems of new hospitals.

Dr. Hameed has a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, USA, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida, USA.
